How to Find Us

The Crossburn is situated in Smerral, on the edge of Latheronwheel with it’s quaint little harbour on the Moray Firth coast. Situated just off the A9 trunk road 85 miles north of Inverness and 35 miles south of John O’Groats and the ferry ports for the Orkney Islands, Norway and Iceland are close by.

There are regular rail links from Inverness to Wick (20 miles to the north of The Crossburn) and flights from many UK airports direct to Inverness or to Wick via Aberdeen. There are a number of car hire companies based at Inverness Airport.

The drive northwards on the A9 from Inverness is truly spectacular with crossings over the Moray, Cromarty and Dornoch Firths and passing through the historic villages of Golspie, Brora and Helmsdale.

As you approach LATHERONWHEEL from the south look out for a LEFT turn signposted SMERRAL. Turn left and follow the road for about 400 metres...The Crossburn is on the left and clearly marked at the gateway.

Travelling from the north, the Smerral turn is on the right, at the bottom of the hill as you leave Latheronwheel.
